Whittaker Memorial Hospital
Repurposed for a cause
Whittaker Memorial Hospital was one of the few African-American hospitals in the country developed by Black physicians and designed by Black architects. Long-vacant, the hospital located in Newport News, Virginia, was adaptively reused for affordable housing.
